Life Legacy

Roxey Lamar Johnson departed this life suddenly December 25, 2012. “Rock” as he was known was born June 12, 1963, was raised in the Fentress section of Chesapeake, VA. He was a 1981 graduate of Great Bridge High School, where he played football on the junior varsity and varsity teams.
Roxey was a member of New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was employed for thirty years at Chesapeake Public Schools as Head Custodian and also ten years with the City of Chesapeake.
Roxey was a fun-loving, kind-hearted people person who knew no strangers and he also loved to dance.
Roxey leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Leslie B. Johnson; two daughters, Morgan Askew Johnson and Ashlie Carpenter (Robert); his mother, Beulah F. Johnson; his father, Roxey Johnson; Special father figure, Russell Bell; two sisters, Tonya Dozier (Darryl) and Karen Savage (Jeff); three brothers, Kenny Hinton, Chenyon Johnson and Abdullah Humes; grandmother, Ella Mae Simons; three grandchildren, Attonie, Azon and Zi Zi Carpenter; niece, Chiniqua Sivels; nephew, Jeffery Johnson; aunts, Barbara Sinclair, Gladys Hurdle, Rosa Johnson, Sandra Humes and Dorothy Dixon; uncle, Ronnie Anderson; mother-in-law, Carolyn Berry; grandmother-in-law, Flossie Butler; aunt-in-law, Beverly Stukes (Joe); and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
