Alphonso Wood

Alphonso Wood, 60, was born on September 5, 1958 in Norfolk, VA to the late Lucille Wood and George Brown.  He entered into eternal rest at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on June 7, 2019.

Alphonso was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was a maintenance worker at the US Naval Base for over 20 years until he became ill.

Alphonso attend the United House of Prayer during the early years of his life and later moved to Ethel Star Holiness Church.  He loved basketball, football, playing cards and being around his family.

Besides his parents, Alphonso was predeceased by one brother, Paris Wood, and his grandparents, Oscar and Alberta Wood.

Alphonso leaves to cherish his memory, nine children; two sisters, Barbara Walker, Margie Wood, both of South Carolina; two brothers, Ernest Wood (Lenora), Curtis Wood (Faye) both of Va. Beach, VA; nephew, Kenneth Wood (Paula) of South Carolina; two aunts, Mary Brown, Marion Wood both of Norfolk, VA; special friend, Priscilla James;  close friends, Peter, Willie Walker; a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
