Charlie Bell Rhodes, 89, went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2019. She was born on July 17, 1930 to the late Clarence Armour and Ida Bell Hardy Armour in Stewart County, GA.
Charlie was a homemaker and the military wife of the late Airforce Senior Master Sergeant Chelsie A. Rhodes, Sr. for 56 years. Together they both loved and supported the community wherever they lived. Charlie worked alongside her husband with the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and volunteered as a Student Helper at Ohio State University where her husband worked for 20 years. She also volunteered with the kitchen staff at the Level Green Fellowship Baptist Church. Charlie was a member of the Bayside Recreation “Silver Sneakers”. She was a former member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Columbus, OH and a current member of the New Beginnings Worship Center, Va. Beach, VA. Charlie was an avid gardener, bird watcher, coin collector, traveler and dog show enthusiast.
Charlie leaves to cherish her fond memories, her children, Chelsie A. Rhodes Jr., Charlene A. Rhodes; grandchildren, Nathan E. Rhodes, Quincy Rhodes; sisters, Stella Sutton, Emma Frazier; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Rivers Armour, Dorothy Armour, Brenda Armour and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
