Emerson “Embo” Gregg transitioned from this life on August 15, 2019. He was born March 13, 1961 to the late Jack and Sallie M. Gregg, in Sellers, South Carolina, Marion County. He attended First Colonial High School.
Emerson was married to Marguerite Hamberry for 27 years. To this union, they were blessed with four children,: Brandon (Jazmine), Lyndell (Sylvia), Bobby Jr., and Nasiya Brown (Terry).
Emerson was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Cheathar. In 2015 Emerson joined Piney Grove Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his health failed. Emerson has a long history of work; City of Virginia Beach-twenty-eight years; Virginia Public Schools– 5 years; and Sentara Hospital—eight years. Hunting was his life long love and hobby he shared with his close friends.
He leaves to remember: His children, grandchildren-Kiant’e Hamberry, Ladia Hambery, Yalanda H. Dunston (Marquis), Lyndell Hamberry Jr. Amani Brown, his granddaughter and “favorite little nurse”; Diashay Morris, Isaiah Hoggard and Ayden Gregg. Two sisters, Minister Margie G. Berry (Winfred, deceased) and Jacqueline Gregg; two brothers: Freeman M. Gregg (Paula) and Jack Gregg Jr. (Annette); two sisters-in-law, Patricia Thornton (Timothy) and Deborah McCrea (Wilbert); four brothers-in-law, Harry L. Hamberry (Lillie) Robert Hamberry, Reggie Hamberry and Wilbert McCrae (Debbie); his god-son Jamie DeJarnette and a host of great -grandchildren, cousins and friends.
