Eugene Alexander Gatlin

Eugene Alexander Gatlin, 77, passed away Aug. 17, 2018 in Atlanta, GA. He was born July 10, 1941 to the late Julia Owens (Melvin) and Edward Shaw in Virginia Beach, VA.  He was predeceased by a son Jonah Gassaway and three siblings, Keith Owens, Shirley Shaw and Marion Hartfield.

He was a 1960 graduate of Princess Anne County Training School and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church, VB. He worked as a brick mason. He was very athletic and was an avid basketball and softball player.

He is survived by six children, Jimi M. Monroe, Myron Goffigan, Gregory, Eugene, Dwayne and Anthony Gatlin; 15 siblings, Marvin, Cornell, Gerald and Tillman Owens, Edward Shaw, Jr., Evelyn Moore, James, Celester, Donnell and Bishop Larry L. Shaw, Anzella Jackson, Rory Shaw, Laverne Jones, Linda Robbins and Daisy Stephenson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
