Fred "Dizzy" Woodhouse

January 13, 1930 ~ June 3, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Fred Woodhouse Obituary

Fred Woodhouse, 89 of Virginia Beach, VA went to his heavenly home June 3, 2019.  He was born January 1, 1930, in Princess Anne County to the late George Sr. and Annie Wheaton Woodhouse.

He was preceded by his brothers, Linwood, Johnny, George Jr. “Punch”, and Stanley Woodhouse; sisters, Mary “Mickey” Holloway, Gladys James and Alice Spellman.

Fred, known affectionally as “Dizzy” was a construction laborer and car dealer. Dizzy was proud of his construction work in his earlier days, building structures such as the Sentara Va. Beach General Hospital, the Dome, and many other landmarks throughout Va. Beach. Dizzy was also known for his car dealerships, legitimate or not. He was there for you when you needed credit to buy a car and couldn’t get it. Dizzy had a car for you. If your car couldn’t pass state inspection and you needed an inspection sticker, Dizzy was there (now the number of months dictated the cost but be assured he had your back). He had an infamous sales pitch, “It runs like a baby”, but once you hit the highway the warranty expired.  His heart was genuine, and his smile greeted you always. Dizzy loved both these professions because he truly loved helping people and made many lifelong friends and relationships whom he cherished in doing so. Dizzy loved his neighborhood of Virginia Village, where he continued to live after the passing of his parents.  In his neighborhood Dizzy was affectionally, known as “Izzy”.  His extended family in Virginia Village was dear to him and treated him with so much kindness and respect. He was dedicated to his daily walks in the neighborhood to pass the time and to stay in touch with his friends who lived there.  But his family was second to none, you couldn’t find anyone who Dizzy didn’t recognize as his cousin. “EVERYBODY” was kin folks. He always gave the little kids a $1 no matter what because he was their Uncle Dizzy. Dizzy was a supporter of the United Police Officers Association (UPOA).

Dizzy leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Barbara Anne Mitchell; son, Earl Woodhouse (Doita); six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; devoted and dedicated nieces, Alice Blalock, Shirley Cherry, Tracy Murray (Kelvin); special great nieces and nephews, Frank and Sheryl Dial; Demar, Benita, Kelvin Jr. and Kenita Murray; Speedy Woodhouse, Eric and Johnathan Woodhouse, Sandra Dennis; Wanda, Walter Jr. “Zeke”; Wade Cherry, Anthony Blalock Jr.;  additional special loved ones, Darrell, Torie, Tena, Chasity and Chris Redmond, Travon Owens and host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
