Lewis J. Jones, 73, was the 1st child born to the late James and Jeannette Ophelia Jones on September 12, 1945 at Community Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2019. Lewis, but to most Lil James, Daddy, Granddaddy or Uncle James, was a great son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Lewis was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA. He attended Union Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA. He was a dedicated worker at Sprinkle Masonry Construction Company. He enjoyed spending time with his late daughter Ischell Harris and grandkids. James also had a devoted friend Tony Ford, who loved him dearly, and who was a true friend to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jeannette Jones; brother, Walter Jones and daughter, Ischell Harris. He is survived by his siblings, Sherry Smith of Norfolk, VA, Linda Daniels (Willie) of Norfolk, VA., Roy Jackson (Audrey) of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Jason Jones of Chesapeake, VA, Maurice Jones of Chesapeake, VA, Tony Ford (Tanyia) of Virginia Beach, VA and Tiara (Isaih) of Chesapeake, VA; stepchildren, Selena Coleman of NC, James Brown (Gaye) of Chester, VA, Anthony Brown (Valerie) of Chesapeake, VA, Vernetta James-Myers of Augusta, GA, and Jovone Norman of Augusta, GA; 22 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends
