Luvenia W. Roulhac

Luvenia W. Roulhac, 88, passed away on January 1, 2018. She was born in Blountstown, Florida on May 15, 1929 to the late Scott Washington and Gertrude Winton.

On September 19, 1952, Luvenia and Humor “Henderson” Roulhac exchanged marriage vows and seven children were born into this union – Gwendolyn Beale, Laverne Roulhac, Phillip Roulhac, Tyron Roulhac, Mary Elizabeth Hill, Scott Roulhac, and Sharon Rogers - all of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Luvenia was known as a “people person” and was affectionately referred to as Grandma or Ms. Roulhac to everyone she encountered. As a well-groomed lady she worked for years in Virginia Beach as a housekeeper and was very much a devoted mother, friend, and tender heart in her local Lynnhaven community.

Her hobbies included gardening, playing bingo with close friends, and spending time with her grand-children and great grand-children. Additionally, she was an avid sports fan and could easily be found watching football on Sunday afternoons. As a young lady, she spoke of engaging time with her mother and special moments playing dress-up and dancing with loved-ones.

Luvenia, was a gentle spirit in her senior years. She loved the Lord, often referenced memories of her late husband and made no secrets of her desires to join him when the Lord allowed. 

Luvenia (aka – Grandma, Momma, Beanie, Ms. Roulhac) was predeceased by her beloved brothers Ernest “Scott” Washington of Oxon Hill, Maryland and William Washington of Blountstown, Florida. In addition, she is survived by her dear sister Patricia Henry of Orlando, Florida, Jean R. Washington (sister in-law) of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Charlie Roulhac (brother in-law) of Panama City, Florida and a host of grand-children, great grand-children, great great grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The matriarch of the Roulhac family will truly be missed! Fly on Luvenia W. Roulhac until we meet again…
