Stephen Greene, 71, departed this life July 11, 2018. Affectionately known as “Pops,” he was born April 3, 1947 in Manhattan, NY and predeceased by his parents. He was united in matrimony to Elaine Woodburn.
Pops was dedicated to his family. He was a strong disciplinarian who was respected by all. Pops was a profoundly wise man who was known to offer words of encouragement such as “Go to School & go to work” “Be productive members of society” and “Good times are expensive”. He instilled great values in his children and always stressed the importance of education.
As a service member of the United States Marine Corp Stephen Greene received several awards; National Defense Service medal, Vietnamese Service & Campaign medals, Good Conduct medal, Presidential Unit Citation w/ combat ribbon and Cross of Gallantry w/ palm. His accolades continue in education with a Masters degree from John Jay College, a Bachelors of Arts from Bankstreet College and reigned as a Professor at The College of New Rochelle specializing in history & political science. Pops later retired from the Department of Defense as a Management Analyst. He always had a way of doing things “His Way”.
Pops leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter Heather Greene (NY), three sons Stephen Greene (PA), Christopher Greene (VA); Sean Greene (NY) one daughter in-law Tasha Greene ; six grandchildren Sean Green Jr., Payton Greene, Taylor Greene, Sierra Nichols, Ayden Greene, Ethan Greene & one great-grandchild Kyrie Greene.
Pops was loved and cherished by all who knew him and left an everlasting legacy.
