Wade Douglas Morings, 68, departed this earthly life peacefully in his home in Virginia Beach, VA on 12 March 2019. Wade was born on March 5, 1951 in Princess Anne County, Virginia (now Virginia Beach), to Sallie Marie Morings.
Wade graduated in 1969 from Union Kempsville High School, Virginia Beach, VA. He was an amazing student and an active band member playing first chair saxophone for the All City Band. Wade was also an alumnus of Norfolk State University.
Wade enlisted in the United States Air Force on 27 May 1971 and retired 26 May 1975. He faithfully served his country as a Load Crew Chief (E5). He was a recipient of a Good Conduct Medal for his spotless and dutiful service from 27 May 1971 to 28 May 1974. Wade and his family traveled many places.
He was employed for 34 years by the Virginia Electric and Power Company/Dominion Power from November 1976 to May 2010. During his employment he started out as an Under Lineman and advanced to Supervisor of Operations. He was also an active member of The International Association of Lions Clubs of Kempsville.
Wade was a kind-hearted individual that truly loved his family and friends alike, and was the backbone of his family. He enjoyed life, gardening and keeping his lawn perfect. Upon retirement he discovered that he enjoyed working with computers. He treasured his loving wife of 46 years and his two children with unconditional love.
Wade was preceded in death by his father William Henry Smith, sister Miriam Smith Hadley, and nephew Dexter Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce; daughter Tamieka, son Wade Jr, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandson Jayedan, mother Sallie Marie Morings, step-sister Mary Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
