William Arthalus Lane, 57 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 13, 2019. He was born on August 9, 1962 in Virginia Beach, VA to Mary Elizabeth Lane Williams and the late James Arthalus. William worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for over thirty years and loved to spend time with his family and friends. Affectionately known as “Biggum, Big William, and Suga Bear” he was educated in the Virginia Beach public schools system and graduated from Princess Anne High School. His hobbies were washing and customizing his “Stinking Lincoln” and most recently his pick-up truck.
William enjoyed sports, especially football watching his favorite team the Washington Redskins, as wellas movies, and reading his Bible. William also enjoyed spending time and spoiling his beloved family dogs Jovi and Fudgie Wudgie. William was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He will be remembered as a wonderful son, father, brother, a great friend, a generous uncle, cousin and nephew. In all these ways and more, he made our lives richer and fuller. His mother Mary Elizabeth Lane Williams (William J. Williams), two sisters Cynthia Lane Williams-Dewalt (Corey), Merry Williams-Heard (Colby), two brothers Dr. William Williams (Angela), Jackie Williams (Rashawn), two children Jemika Scutchings, and Jazmin Lane, two grandchildren Destiny Scutchings, and Karon Scutchings will lovingly remember William. His father, James Arthalus, his brother Stephan Ward Lane, as well as his sister Portia Williams- Riddick precedes William in death. William also leaves to cherish his memories eight aunts Joyce Rouse, Sylvia White, Kay Haynes, Jeanette Lassister (James Jr.), Audrey Cornick, Shirley Conley, Naomi Epps and his special aunt Lois Lane Moore. His two uncles Jackie Lane (Evelyn) and Rueben Williams (Jackie). Also his favorite cousin Sylvia McCray and special friend Monica Scutchings along with numerous loving nieces, nephews and the rest of his family and friends.
