On Thursday, October 6, 2022, God in all of his infinite wisdom, called our beloved Albert James Jr. to eternal rest. Albert Jr. was born on May 13, 1970 to Albert Sr. & Waltina James. Albert, better known as “Chico” was raised in Virginia Beach, VA and graduated from Floyd E. Kellam High School in June 1987. Chico loved the lord, people and gospel music. He loved to make people laugh. He was a hard worker who started off working in HVAC, a job that he really loved. Afterwards he moved to construction where he worked for VA Equipment as an Operator, Excel Paving Company and VA Paving. As a child, Chico played on a parks and rec football team and he was really good. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, but he had an obsession with Tom Brady, the quarter back from the New England Patriots. Chico called him "Hitman". Chico really loved cooking and could cook very well.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Alexenia James; maternal grandparents, Rosa Lee Gatlin and Al Gilchrist; an uncle, Melvin Gatlin and special friend, Tanya Roulhac.
Chico, leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Pastor Albert Lee James, Sr. & District Missionary Waltina James; a brother, Brian James Sr.; nephew, Brian James Jr.; seven aunts, Wanda Gatlin, Therlene Freeman, Mary Williams (Larry), Subrena Winbish (Ronnie), Joyce Archibald(Linwood), Maude Freeman and Gloria McPherson; seven uncles, Richard James (Linda), Irvin James (Daphne), Forrest Gatlin, Bernard Gilchrist, Carlton Gilchrist, Roger Gilchrist (Lynn), and Calvin Gilchrist (Teresa); favorite cousin, Alvin “Mingo” Armstrong and close friends Jerome Reynolds, Will Wilson and a host of cousins and friends.
