Ann Butterworth Feakins of Virginia Beach, age 70, passed away on May 13, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late John Frederick and Jean Fricke Butterworth of Madison, NJ.
Ann, who grew up in Madison, NJ, graduated from Kent Place School in 1969 and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Smith College in 1973. She became the first female loan officer in New Orleans, LA.
Ann is remembered by the good friends she made during her time living in New Orleans, LA; Jacksonville, FL; Montgomery, AL; Princeton, NJ; and Tidewater, VA.
Ann was committed to community service, serving for many years as a regular driver for Lee’s Friends, an organization providing free services to cancer patients. Ann enjoyed her Bible study, book club, and card-making classes. She was beloved by her family, who adored Ann’s extensive decorating, cooking, and hosting skills during holiday gatherings.
Ann is survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul Martin Feakins, and her three children, Liz Feakins Welburn and her husband Peter of Wellesley, MA; Susan Feakins Masry and her husband Avi of Scarsdale, NY; and Nicholas Paul Feakins and his wife Allie of Richmond, VA, as well as her siblings Susan Lord, Caroline Forsman, and John Butterworth and her 6 grandchildren: Lila, Piper, Benjamin, Robert, Samuel, and Ashton.
We will all remember how she loved travel and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren who know her as the best Grammy ever.
A memorial service will be held on June 19 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1009 W Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk. The internment will take place at Grace Episcopal Church in Madison, NJ on Saturday, June 12 at 11am.
