Obituary
“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine.”
Mrs. Annie Mae Cary, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, transitioned from earth to glory on January 25, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 20, 1946, in Princess Anne County (now Virginia Beach), to the late William and Annie Lindsey.
Mrs. Cary was a 1966 graduate of Union Kempsville High School. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the Chairwoman of the Deaconess Ministry, Sunday School teacher, Chairwoman and Treasurer of the Hospitality Committee, Treasurer of the Prayer Band Ministry, as well as a member of the Missionary and Senior Ministries. She loved gospel music and was an honorary member and great supporter of the combined choirs. Through the years, Mrs. Cary took joy in doing the Lord’s work by taking part in many various other organizations, filling in whenever and wherever there was a need.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Cary was preceded in death by her sisters Cora Jane Jones and Essie Mae Clore.
Left to treasure the memories are her husband, Wayne Cary, Sr.; two children, Wendy Lyle (John) and Wayne “Jay” Cary, Jr. (Janel); five grandchildren, Khalil (Ashonta), Jordon, Jaida, Ivy, and Isaiah; one great-grandchild: Kristian; siblings, William Lindsey, Jr. (Mildred), Lorenzo Lindsey (Nancy), Ann McCoy, and Terry Lindsey (Iesha); special aunt Cora Lee Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many close friends.
