Earnest L. Hawkins, 78, entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2020. He was born on June 22, 1941 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late Roxie White and Earl Hawkins.
Earnest worked for 16 years at the Navy Exchange and coached the girl’s softball team while employed there. He owned and operated his business for 40 years, the E.L. Hawkins & Sons Trucking Company. Earnest was a member of the Gospel Epic Group for 10 years. He was a member of the United House of Prayer for All People, Virginia Beach, VA. Earnest was an original member of the Senior Band and served on the Male Usher board. He loved the outdoors, car racing and being around his family.
Besides his parents, Earnest was predeceased by a grandson, Anthony Lee Hawkins Jr.; one sister, Rosetta Hawkins; grandparents Eva Joyner, Henry Davis, Earnest Hawkins Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 60 years, Inez Hawkins; children, Deborah Hawkins-Crumble (Darryl), Keith Hawkins (Portia), Anthony L Hawkins Sr. (Deborah); special brother-in-law, Vernon M. Simmons; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
