Estelle B. Corprew, 86, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 17, 2021. She was in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 19, 1935, in Princess Anne County, VA (now Virginia Beach) to the late Solomon Sr. and Malissa Bray.
Mrs. Corprew attended Princess Anne Training School (later Union Kempsville High School). She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Trustee, the Deaconess Ministries, and as a Co-Chairwoman for the Pastor’s Aide. Estelle was also a faithful member of the United Order of Tents (The Golden Sheaves).
Mrs. Corprew was employed by the Virginia Beach Public School System for 21 years until her retirement in 1995.
Mrs. Corprew was united in Holy Matrimony to Leander Corprew, Jr. and were blessed to nurture the lives of their four children: Stephanie Anne, Beryl Jean, Michael Anthony, and Patrick Randall. They devoted their time and love to their three grandchildren: Shawnon Whitney, Tia Nicole, and Michael Anthony, Jr.
Mrs. Corprew provided the best meals and reached out to many children whom she loved and doted on throughout her life. The Corprew home was always filled with fantastic food, love, laughter, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, family friends, and the Corprew children's friends. "Grand Ma" and "Mama Stelle" as she was affectionately called by her extended family, loved family gatherings and children.
She was an avid reader, puzzle solver, spelling and math whiz, and took great pride in her excellent culinary skills. With her quick wit and beautiful smile, everyone was always welcomed in her home.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Corprew was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Leander Corprew, Jr. on June 1, 2021; brothers; Solomon Jr., Joseph, Joshua, and Melvin; sisters; Nora V. Walke and Mary Ruth Price of Virginia Beach, VA.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted daughters, Stephanie Peebles (Roosevelt) of Nashville, TN, Beryl Corprew Poster of Virginia Beach, VA; two devoted sons, Michael A. Corprew, Sr. (Tracey) of Chesapeake, VA; Patrick R. Corprew of Portsmouth, VA; two loving granddaughters, Shawnon W. Corprew of Williamsburg, VA, Tia N. Corprew of Virginia Beach, VA and a loving grandson, Michael A. Corprew, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA.
The family extend heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Corprew's long time caregivers, Shalanda, Ms. Harriet, Kandice, Zena, and Fran. We also lovingly thank our extended family Joyce and Al Williams; god grandchildren, Paul Williams (Amanda), Andrea Thomas (Kenneth), and Derrick Williams; the Cason Cousins; Brenda, Rudolph, Carletta, Jennell, Valerie, Rene', Gary, Brian, and Darrell; nieces Sandra, Carolyn, and Gloria LaVell; nephews; Plaxico, Warnell, Reginald, Donald, Marvin, Ricky, and Roosevelt; along with great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, and the numerous special Union Baptist Church families.
