Frank A. Barnes, Sr., 71, a residence of Virginia Beach, VA for the last 50 years, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 14, 2020.
Frank was born on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1948 in Bethel, NC to the late James & Rosie Barnes. As a child, Frank started out working on a farm and later at the age of 22, he moved to Virginia for better opportunities. He wanted to provide a home and stability for his family. Frank was a loyal employee to the City of Virginia Beach for 33 years and collected many accolades during his tenure.
Frank was a man who was well respected and admired for his honesty and no non-sense approach to life. He was very vocal with his opinions and was always a straight shooter. People either admired or feared this quality in him. Frank would give guidance to others and was a very generous with his helping hands.
Frank loved being a part of The Virginia Beach Riders Motorcycle Club and The Aces Softball Team. He was a dedicated follower of politics as well. His greatest accomplishment in life was his relationship and marriage of 53 years to the love of his life, his wife, Mary Barnes. He will be missed and always loved. His presence will forever be felt in our hearts.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by one brother, James Barnes.
Frank leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife, Mary Barnes; children, Frankie Barnes (Kathron), Michael Barnes, Montrez Barnes; eight grandchildren, Chantal, Shanice, Frankie & Diez Nordstrom, M’Kevian Caldwell, Keyon’tae, Montrez Jr. & Jamari Barnes; siblings, Janie, Lossie, Linda, Patricia, Johnny (Estella), Larry, Herbert (Dawn) Barnes; sister-in-law, Annie and many other relatives and friends all from North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
