John J. Trotman, 99, entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2020.
John was born on March 19, 1920 in Gates County, NC to the late Atlantic and Alberta Trotman. After graduation at 17, John moved to Virginia Beach, VA to start his life. He was drafted in the US Navy and was honorably discharged after a few years. John met the love of his life, his wife of 80 years, Lillian C. Trotman. The family unit were faithful members of Lynnhaven Baptist Church and later became longtime members of New Hope Baptist Church, both in Va. Beach.
John had several careers in his life. He retired as a Civil Servant at Oceana Naval Air Station and retired from the Va. Beach Public Schools Bus Depot as a Mechanic. John also worked as a waiter for Steinhiblers & the Pine Tree Inn restaurants, both in Va. Beach.
John was a Trustee of New Hope Baptist Church, a volunteer on the Seatack Volunteer Fire Department, loved watching baseball and spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by, two sons, Johnnie R. Trotman, Michael K. Trotman; siblings, Buddy Trotman, Rudolph Trotman and Mary T. Thomas.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Lillian C. Trotman; six children, Charles R. Trotman, Stephen R. Trotman, Jacqueline S. Dorsey (Steve), Roderick L. Trotman, Tony D. Trotman, Terry D. Trotman; one sister, Bessie Saunders; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
