Jose A. Mendez Jr.

José Antonio Mendez, Jr., 62, entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2020.

He was born on September 15, 1958 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to José Mendez, Sr. & Sonia Rivera. José served this country in both the in U.S. Army & U.S. Navy. He was an avid student of martial arts and used his knowledge to teach self-discipline and self-defense to youth in troubled communities. A skilled guitarist, he loved to minister to congregations throughout the Mid-Atlantic area by sharing his love of quartet-style Gospel music. 

José was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, LaToya Perez (Eric), José “TJ” Mendez III (Shaniqua), Daniel Mendez (Shamekia); Nakessha Mendez; sixteen grandchildren; mother, Sonia Rívera; father, José Mendez, Sr.; step-mother, Frances Mendez; mother-in-law, Gladiola Holloman; sister, Nitza Williamson (David); sister-in-law, Joann Vaughan (Drake); brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Holloman Jr. (Marie), Randy Holloman Sr. (Rhonda), Shaun Knox (Melissa); nine nieces & nephews; twelve great nieces & nephews and a host of other relatives and friend
