Matilda Horton Douglas, 72, slipped quietly from this world to rest in Heaven on October 18, 2021.
Matilda was born in Mississippi to the late Mattie Horton on October 17, 1949. She graduated from Jacksonville High School and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Later on in life, Matilda moved to Florida and joined of St. Ruth Missionary Baptist Church, where she was on the Usher Board, Feeding Ministry and the choir. She was a great cook and her sons’ favorite dishes were, her spaghetti and fried chicken. She loved singing, helping others, but most importantly, spending time with her family.
Matilda was predeceased by one son, Abraham Horton, and her mother, Mattie Horton.
Matilda leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Frederick Horton (Shandera), Marcus Horton (Tiffany); eight grandchildren, Desire Horton, Frederick Horton Jr., Essence Horton, Nyshia Horton, Marcus Horton, Lovely Butts, Jadaan Horton, Jakayla Horton; two great-grandchildren, Javeah Larry, Thailynn Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
