Kevin A. Sanderlin

Licensed Funeral Director/Owner

Kevin A. Sanderlin has been a valued asset in the funeral industry for 20 years. A native of the West Munden Section of Chesapeake, he is the son of Phillip (Juanita) Sanderlin and Hope Sanderlin.

He is a graduate of Indian River High School. In 1996, he received an AAS Degree from John Tyler Community College in Chester, Virgina with a concentration in Funeral Services. Kevin received his formal training from Graves Funeral Home from 1995-2002.

Kevin became Manager/Funeral Director formerly P. G. Thomasson Funeral Services, Inc. in 2002, and later co-founded Beach Funeral Services in January of 2005. He serves as the chief owner and director of the business.

Kevin's civic affiliations include Virginia Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and the board of Tidewater Funeral Directors Association. In addition, he is licensed in the states of Virginia and North Carolina.

Kevin is married to his loving wife, Dawna Sanderlin. They have three daughters, Sacoria, Amore and Kiersten and four sons, Tyler, Travion, Travious, and Neval.

Kevin looks forward to serving the Tidewater area with the utmost compassion as families deal with difficult times.

Amore C. Sanderlin

Licensed Funeral Director/Manager

Amore Chera Sanderlin, a native of Norfolk, VA, she is the daughter of Kevin and Travia Sanderlin. 

Amore attended Norfolk Public Schools and was a 2009 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.  She furthered her education by attending Shaw University in Raleigh, NC where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree in 2015. 

Following her graduation, Amore felt the need to join with her father in the funeral industry after the passing of our co-founder, Barbara A. Jones.  She then attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA where she received her Associate of Science degree in Funeral Service in 2016.  Amore received her Funeral Directors License in June 2017.  Amore is also a licensed crematory arranger and operator.

Her civic affiliations include Junior Artist – Pi Sigma Eta, Outstanding Academic Proficiency – Mu Sigma Alpha, Dorcas Bethany Bessie Ellison #50 - Order of Eastern Star.  Amore also serves as a member of the Virginia Mortician's Association.

In her leisure time, Amore enjoys reading, cooking, painting, dancing, swimming, concerts and playing her flute.

Amore has one beautiful daughter, Ava Marie Painter, two sisters, Sacoria and Kiersten Sanderlin and four brothers, Tyler, Travion, Travious, and Neval Sanderlin.  She is also blessed with her grandparents,  Andrea Hope Sanderlin, Thomasina Allen, Juanita Sanderlin, and a niece, Leyonna Janet.

Amore’s possesses a gracious and caring spirit which all our families encounter as they enter the doors of Beach Funeral Services.  She is willing to serve and eager to continue the Beach legacy with compassion, pride, professionalism and dignity.

Bridgette Armstrong

Bridgette Armstrong

Office Administrator

Bridgette Armstrong, proud daughter of Alvin & Mildred Armstrong, was born in Norfolk, VA and raised in Virginia Beach, VA.  Her family line has been native to Virginia Beach and upper North Carolina areas for many generations.

Bridgette graduated in 1987 from the Floyd E. Kellam High School and later enlisted in the US Army.  After serving her country, SGT Armstrong was honorably discharged in 1996.

Continuing her education, Bridgette graduated from ECPI Summa Cum Laude with an Associates degree in Computer Science and a minor in Telecommunications.  She joined the Beach Funeral & Cremation Services family in 2014 as Office Administrator.  After completing her training under the late Barbara A. Jones, Bridgette migrated to cosmetologist and stylist.


Howard E. Belvin

Licensed Funeral Director

Howard E. “Gene” Belvin, a native of Elizabeth City, NC is married to Margaret B. Belvin.  They have two children, Howard E. Belvin, Jr. and Christopher P. Belvin and 5 grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Frederick Military Academy and received his Associate Degree in Mortuary Science from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

Gene has served the Commonwealth of Virginia as a licensed funeral director since 1970 and has a Funeral Service Courtesy Card in North Carolina for 6 years.

Gene’s current civic affiliations include current Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Norfolk along with the Tidewater Funeral Directors Association.  He is also a member of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association.

Previously, Gene served as Past President of the Norfolk Jaycees, the Monument Builders of the Virginia’s and Allied Memorial Council of Virginia.  He was the National Certification Chair of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Tidewater, a past member of the Chamber of Commerce and Norfolk Sister City, Inc.

Gene proudly serves as a Licensed Funeral Director at Beach Funeral Services.


Barbara A. Jones

IN LOVING MEMORY OF BARBARA ANN JONES

October 4, 1955 - September 14, 2015


Barbara Ann Jones was a valued entity in Funeral Services for over 10 years. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Jessie L. Saunders and Ella (Love) Jones. 

Barbara grew up in the Virginia Beach until the age of 11, before returning to Norfolk to reside with her grandmother the late Theresa Saunders. Barbara attended Granby High School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and later a graduate of Anne's Beauty School of Cosmetology. She also received a Certificate of Completion from VOTEC in Geriatric Nursing and completed GSH Real Estate School. 

Barbara's objective had always been to help people in any capacity possible. She kept this passion in mind while pursing her various positions in the community. Barbara was a member of Bros and Sisters-n-Unity Gospel Promotions and charter member of St. Paul COGIC, Norfolk under leadership of Dr. Wilbert L. Daniels, Pastor & First Lady Lillian B. Daniels.

Barbara was the Co-Founder of Beach Funeral Services, Inc. She proudly served as Office Manager, Stylist, and Funeral Attendant.

Barbara was the single mother of one son, Vincent Jones and daughter, the late Trina Jones. Barbara also raised her two granddaughters, Nyha & Khayla Jones. Barbara always looked forward in continuing serving the Tidewater area with the care and compassion that each family deserves.

Sadly, our Angel of Beach Funeral Services was called to Heavenly Home on September 14, 2015.  We all loved Barbara and miss her tremendously.  Rest on in the arms of Jesus.


Dawna Sanderlin

Dawna Sanderlin

Dawna Sanderlin is a product of Norfolk, VA. where she attended Norfolk Public Schools and was a 1984 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She graduated from Virginia State University in 1988 with an undergraduate degree in Public Administration.  As an educator, she has taught middle school English Language Arts for over 19 years at Ruffner Academy Middle School and is serving as a Behavior Specialist at Coleman Place Elementary in Norfolk, VA. and she is a member of the Norfolk Federation of Teachers and National Association for Elementary School Principals(NAESP) and the local branch of Elementary Schools Principals Network(ESPAN) with Norfolk Public Schools district. Dawna obtained a Master‘s of Education from Cambridge College in 2004 and completed the post-master’s certificate program in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University in October 2016.  Dawna is also a member of the Alpha Eta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. since 1986.

Dawna was introduced to the funeral industry by her husband, Mr. Sanderlin 17 years ago. Kevin and Dawna married in 2009 and together they raised seven children all while investing time and patience into developing and renovating Beach Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA.  Dawna supports her husband and the business through administrative support, funeral attendant, special events and facility interior design decorator. Dawna has taken pride in her husband’s sacrifices and efforts of the business’ growth and development that the Virginia Beach community and neighboring areas can be proud.

Now, as a business partner with Beach River Funeral Home, Dawna and her husband Kevin are looking forward to bringing the Elizabeth City Community and families a facility they too can be proud of and quality service that will provide comfort and a peace of mind in their time of bereavement.
